Chalkware figurine of an English Setter holding a Pheasant. Although there is no clear indication of age, the style and paintwork suggests that it dates from the early 20thC.
The nature of chalkware figurines is that the paintwork easily chips or flakes with age and pieces of the chalk often break away. This figurine is in a typical condition for its age with small pieces of missing paintwork and a few minor chips in the chalk. However, there is no serious damage, cracks or breaks. The dog is painted in cream & black and stand on a plinth painted green & black. The figurine has a good patina, suggesting that it is quite old.
The name of H.Santini is impressed into the side of the plinth, so it may be of Italian origin.
