Poodle - Dressing Table trinket box (possibly late 19thC)
A marble trinket box, possibly used on a lady's dressing table. The lid incorporates a statuette of a dog - probably a Poodle.
The base consists of a white marble oval box with an interior depth of approximately 1". The lid is mottled grey marble and has a white marble reclining dog mounted on top.
This item has suffered a little during its lifetime, with a piece missing from the base plinth and there is also some damage to one of the hind legs on the dog, but this in no way detracts from the quality of this unusual item. It appears to be quite old - the style suggests late 19th century, although this is only a guess.
Length 3.75", Width 2.5", Height 3.5", Weight 284gms. The letter "G" is engraved into the underside of both the base & lid.
